(Eastaboga, AL - June 24, 2025) - As Week 17 of the Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Racing Series concludes, the championship picture across all four national divisions is starting to take shape. With 13 weeks remaining in the 2025 season, contenders are beginning to separate from the pack while several fresh faces and rookie standouts are forcing their way into the spotlight.
Weekly Late Models: Davis Returns to the Top
The Rogers-Dabbs Performance Parts Crate Racin’ USA Weekly Late Model standings saw a shakeup at the top this week. After trailing by 10 points in Week 16, Ben Davis of Poplarville, MS surged back into the lead with 592 points, reclaiming the top spot from Shannon Lee. Lee, who held the lead for two consecutive weeks, remains close behind with 558 points, just 34 markers back.
Sid Scarbrough continues to hold steady in third, while rookie Brody Williams of Star, MS put in one of the strongest performances of the week—jumping 40 points to move into fourth and cut the deficit to just 71 points off the leader. James Shirley, Brady Walton, and Luke Bennett round out a tightening mid-pack, where every race could alter the standings in a big way.
Late Model Sportsman: White Expands Commanding Lead
Brett White continues to dominate the Late Model Sportsman division, building on an already impressive season with another strong weekend. White, from Kosciusko, MS, now holds 644 points, extending his margin to 67 points over Florence’s Devin Whatley, who sits second.
Rookie driver Brandon Lunsford also made gains this week, climbing to third with 547 points, while Zack Owens and Covy Parsons continue to hover near the front. Notably, five drivers inside the top 10 improved their totals by 40 points or more, signaling a fierce battle to come in the second half of the season.
Street Stock: Martin Still in Control, But Magee Keeps Chasing
Calvin Martin of Carriere, MS remains the class of the Street Stock field, increasing his total to 695 points in Week 17. His consistent performances keep him 64 points ahead of rookie standout Malachi Magee, who continues to impress in his first full campaign.
Meanwhile, Corey Buhler and Travis Marsh are in a close contest for third and fourth, while Carlos Williamson, another rookie, made a notable jump in the rankings, moving into the fifth spot. The tight clustering in the bottom half of the top ten shows just how competitive this division remains with only 13 weeks to go.
Modified Sportsman: Grimes Holding Strong
In the CRUSA Modified Sportsman ranks, Colton Grimes remains the clear frontrunner. The Ecru, MS driver upped his total to 448 points, fending off a charge from Ron Grandel, who now sits just 38 points behind after closing the gap from Week 16.
The rest of the division saw movement as well, with Keith Coan and rookie Chad Gentry now neck and neck in third and fourth, separated by just three points. Luke Riddle, Eddie Riddle, and Brandon Meeks all remain within striking distance, but will need strong runs in the coming weeks to mount a serious threat.
What’s Next?
With 13 weeks remaining in the 30-week campaign, the chase for a national championship is far from over. Drivers and teams are hitting their stride, and every weekly outing could mean a pivotal shift in the title races.
